1. Preheat oven to 325degrees. Oil and flour 2 loaf pans or 1 cookie sheet.
2. In large bowl, mix flour and sugar. Cut in butter until it resembles small crumbs. Sift together baking powder, salt, and baking soda over crumb mixture.
3. In small bowl, whisk eggs. Add buttermilk and vanilla. Pour over crumb mixture and mix with a fork. Add raisins, and mix to a dough-like consistency.
4. Spread into prepared loaf pans or form 1 round on cookie sheet. Bake 1 hour.
