Corporate Responsibility

It's about being responsible for our future

Look around a Sweetbay Supermarket for a moment. Consider the farmers and their fields, our suppliers and their factories, Sweetbay Associates… you and your family. We are all connected. We are all linked by a shared concern for our earth and a desire to care for the diverse bounty it provides.

At Sweetbay, we celebrate and honor this bond, because it brings us together as a community.

That's why we work every day to make certain that what you find in our stores – from the foods we carry to the services we offer – demonstrates our care for this connection and our stewardship for our planet's natural resources.

It's about being responsible for our world

Corporate responsibility is a core part of our strategy, not just here at Sweetbay but for our sister banners and our parent company, Delhaize Group. It is important to our business to continue our long-standing traditions of leaving our planet better than we found it.

We are pleased to share with you an in-depth look at our sustainability progress in 2011 across all the operations our parent company, the Delhaize Group.

Among the highlights:

  • A 6 percent drop in greenhouse gas emissions from product transportation, compared to 2010.
  • Joining The Sustainability Consortium, an independent group of organizations working on the development of tools that improve the sustainability of consumer goods.

The progress report, Our Sustainability Journey, is only available online. We also invite you to review the full report and to share your thoughts on our blog at http://blog.delhaizegroup.com.

Sustainable Seafood—Here Today, Here Tomorrow

Our seafood sourcing policy means that, if a seafood product is sold at Sweetbay, it was harvested in a manner that ensures its availability today and long into the future.
