Step-by-Step Instructions

Pie Crust
Ingredients for 9" Pie:
One-Crust Pie Two-Crust Pie

1 cup Flour

2 cups Flour

1/2 cup Sugar

1 cup Sugar

1/2 cup Shortening

1 cup Shortening

dash of Salt

dash of Salt

3 tbsp. Water

6 tbsp. water
Step 1.
Blend together all the dry ingredients with a pastry blender.
Step 2.
Add water and stir together to make a ball of dough.
Step 3.
Roll on a floured surface.
Step 4.
Fold in half and lay evenly over the pie plate.
Step 5.
Using a knife, trim the edge around the entire rim of the plate.

Apple Pie - Use Two-Crust Pie
Ingredients:

7 Cortland Apples

1 cup Sugar

1/4 tsp. Nutmeg

1 Tbls. Flour
Step 1.
Peel and core the apples.
Step 2.
Slice the apples and fill the prepared shell.
Step 3.
In a separate bowl, mix together the sugar and nutmeg.
Step 4.
Sprinkle the sugar mixture on top of the apples in the shell.
Step 5.
Using your fingers, sprinkle a little bit of water around the edge of the crust. This will help the top crust adhere to the bottom crust.
Step 6.
Fold the top crust in half and carefully lay it on top of the apples. Fold it over to meet the opposite edge of the pie plate.
Step 7.
Fold the edge of the top crust under the bottom crust and crimp the edges. Cut four slits for vents.
Step 8.
Bake at 450 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes and then turn the oven down to 325 degrees for 35 more minutes.

Pumpkin Pie - Use One-Crust Pie
Ingredients:

1 can One-Pie Pumpkin

1 1/2 Tbsp . Butter

1 Tbsp. Cornstarch

1 1/2 cups Milk or 1 12 oz. can Evaporated Milk

1/2 tsp. Cinnamon

1 cup Sugar

1/2 tsp. Ginger

1/8 cup Molasses

1/2 tsp. Nutmeg

2 Eggs (beaten)

1/2 tsp. Salt
Step 1.
Sift sugar, cornstarch, salt, cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg together.
Step 2.
Mix all dry ingredients together with the can of pumpkin.
Step 3.
Add beaten eggs, melted butter, molasses and milk and mix thoroughly.
Step 4.
Pour pumpkin mixture into an uncooked pie shell.
Step 5.
Bake at 450 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes and then reduce the temperature to 350 degrees and continue to bake for 50 minutes.
